 |
The Anixter Levels Lab is the premier testing facility in the network cabling industry, thanks to the minds behind it. The highly-qualified professionals who staff the lab perform testing, research and development to provide our customers with consistently reliable cabling systems.
Pete D. Lockhart, Vice President of Technology
Since joining Anixter in 1988, Pete has served many senior roles in technical product development and marketing management. He launched the original Anixter Levels in 1989, and helped create the Level 5 cable concept that led to the Category 5 cables in the current ANSI/TIA/EIA-568A standard. Moreover, Pete wrote the specification that has become the foundation for the proposed Cat 6 standard.
Anixter and the cabling industry have recognized Pete for his efforts. In 1991, Anixter presented Pete with the company's first Award of Excellence—a prestigious award given to only 1% of Anixter employees annually. And in the July 1998 issue of Cabling Installation & Maintenance Magazine, Pete was named one of the 10 professionals who has shaped the industry over the last five years.
Pete's career includes membership in many industry organizations, including BICSI, ACUTA, HIMMS, The ATM Forum, TIA/EIA and various ANSI and IEEE standards committees. He has published articles and technical papers in the BICSI, ACUTA, Wire International and HIMMS journals, and has given technical presentations at many trade associations.
Pete is an engineering graduate of Purdue University. Before Anixter, he worked for one of the world's largest manufacturers of power, telecommunications and fiber optic cables in the aerospace/defense industry.
Pete is currently responsible for:
- Research related to all new cabling and connectivity products for copper, fiber, wireless and associated communications solutions.
- Playing a central role in enhancing the Anixter Levels purchasing specification for unshielded twisted-pair cables and link/channel definitions.
Andy Jimenez, Director of Testing Technology
Involved with telecommunications testing and product certification for 10 years, Andy held engineering and management positions with test laboratories specializing in both voice/data systems and component-level testing. Andy was also in charge of launching Underwriters Laboratories' Category 5 connecting-hardware verification program.
Andy holds engineering degrees from the University of Illinois-Chicago and Northwestern University. He is an active member of the TIA TR42 standards committee, which is responsible for commercial premises cabling.
Andy's primary responsibilities include:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the Anixter Levels Lab.
- Working on standards development and product research.
